About Us
Cyber Range Poulsbo is a unique combination of hardware, software, and talented people creating a dynamic environment supporting education, research, demonstration, development, and partnership efforts. The cloud computing environment is managed at Western Washington University Peninsulas campus in Poulsbo, Washington. The platform is built on open-source components and is designed for expanding cybersecurity and computer science topics.
Our mission and history
Cyber Range Poulsbo strengthens education, research, and collaboration in cybersecurity and computer science.
Cyber Range Poulsbo was conceptualized by Western Washington University in 2017 as an educational resource for the state of Washington. Launched in 2020 with the support of donated servers from Boeing, this grassroots effort fulfilled a need for access to infrastructure and hands-on curriculum resources to academic cybersecurity programs.
As the Washington state educational cyber range continues to grow, it is becoming much more than a cyber range, evolving into a community of cybersecurity education, research, and collaboration. Today, Cyber Range Poulsbo empowers a vision of innovation, bringing together academia, industry, and government to lessen the workforce gap and address the dynamic and emerging trends of cybersecurity.
