Project Description
The Cyber Range is an established lab environment for cybersecurity students at Western to hone their skills. This project aims to improve the experience for users needing to report issues with the Range, as well as enable Range staff members to manage user accounts in their LDAP directory. Currently, tracking issues with the Cyber Range is done with a combination of the MantisBT bug tracker and direct contact via email or phone with administrators of the Range. Managing users is done manually in an error-prone fashion. The current implementation of Mantis has been described as an unpleasant and inefficient interface for students and staff alike. We aim to design and construct a unified web interface for students and staff to manage tickets and user accounts. We will ship a Flask web application which presents a clean UI for humans and an API for automation that leverages MantisBT and OpenLDAP API calls to manage data on the back end.
