Project Description
This project aims to create a series of challenging yet engaging network-based exercises for Western Washington University's Cyber Range implementation. Through collaboration with Vipul Kumar, six exercises have been designed, covering topics like buffer overflow attacks, broken authentication, PHP injection, ciphers, packet analysis, and cross-site scripting. Inspired by the "bomb lab" concept, these exercises will encourage students to think critically while fostering hands-on learning with network and security tools. The exercises will promote a deeper understanding of network protocols, virtual system design, firewall configuration, access control lists, and packet sniffers. Adhering to Cyber Range principles, the exercises will be designed for isolation, remote accessibility, and hands-on experimentation. Additional elements such as VM setup, honeypot deployment, UI wireframing, and IPS/IDS systems might be included for a comprehensive cybersecurity experience.
