Phishing for Maritime Systems

This project aims to explore the use of honeypots, honeynets, and tarpits for bolstering the U.S. Navy's cybersecurity, focusing on protecting sensitive maritime data.

Project Description

Given its vast stores of critical data, the U.S. Navy has compelling reasons to explore honeypots as both a defense-in-depth tool and an intelligence-gathering mechanism. This project's primary objective is to create a comprehensive knowledge base on honeypots, honeynets, and tarpits, focusing on their implementation for securing maritime data. Our secondary objective is to apply this knowledge by building a honeypot. One project goal is to establish a wiki-style knowledge base using SharePoint, facilitating organized information storage and collaboration among stakeholders. The other goal is to develop and deploy a honeypot within the cyber range, providing hands-on experience. We will refine the honeypot's specific format as our research progresses.
